AAHA .. start of Universe Day ( Chaitra Navratra ) is on 6th April ( Sunday ) and famous Durgashtmi is on 13th April ( Sunday ) while Sri Ramnaumi is on 14th April , 2008 ( Monday ) .
In India, masses keep 2 types of NAVRATRAS fast :--
--before Dussehra ( generally in Oct every year )
--and before Sri Ramnaumi ( generally in April every year )
Thus exact 6 months gap is there and purpose of fast is
--to bow to Maa Durga
-- and cleanse the liver system before onset of winter / summer .
In fact , it's the Punjabis ( or Vaishno Devi , Jai Maata di Bhaktas ) that have popularised NAVRATRAS before Dussehra but those coming before Sri Ramnaumi are in Indian psyche since times immemorial ( SANATAN DHARAM ) as
--and even Ramji kept Maa Durga fast in spring season as human ( for NAR-LEELA ) to defeat demon Ravana ( verses 1 to 63 , Chapter 30 of scanto 3 of Sridevi Bhagwatam ) .
Thus all are requested to observe NAVRATRAS most religiously to get maximum benefit physically and spiritually .
